The Art of Deg-Bhapka
At the heart of Kannauj's perfumery tradition lies the ancient deg-bhapka distillation
method—a technique that has remained unchanged for centuries. This traditional process uses
copper vessels (deg) and bamboo receivers (bhapka) to extract the purest essence from flowers,
herbs, and spices.
Unlike modern industrial methods, deg-bhapka distillation is a slow, patient art. Our master
artisans carefully monitor the process, ensuring that every drop captures the true soul of the
ingredient. The result is a fragrance that is rich, complex, and impossibly pure.
The Process:
- Selection: Only the finest flowers and ingredients are chosen
- Preparation: Materials are carefully prepared and placed in copper
vessels
- Distillation: Slow heating extracts the essential oils over many hours
- Collection: Pure attar is collected in traditional receivers
- Maturation: The fragrance is aged to perfection
